Fear the Silence by Robert Bryndza

Maggie’s life is turned upside down after her husband takes his own life, and she is immediately thrown into an action packed and wild adventure that see’s her fighting not only for her own survival but to seek the truth and to solve the mystery that her husband has left for her.
One thing I can say is that there is definitely no lack of action in this one, it is a wild ride! Maybe, maybe just a little too wild. I would have personally enjoyed a little more character development, I felt no great love for the heroin and actually I found her quite frustrating and didn’t feel like all of her actions were a good reflection of someone who has just lost their husband of many years.
In the end, I thought the book was ok, it’s an easy read and fast paced but I have much preferred Robert Bryndza’s Erika Foster series to this stand alone.
Many thanks to the publisher, author and NetGalley for the arc in exchange for this review

This whole book felt like a super twisty, dizzying and slightly creepy game of Cluedo. I enjoyed it, a lot.
It kept me on my toes, made me believe I’d figured out “who did it” only to be proven wrong time and time again. Admittedly, there were a few parts that were predictable, I could definitely see where elements of the story were leading BUT there was so much more than I expected and I loved how it concluded. This was my first Riley Sager book, and I know I’ll be picking up another one soon.

I was beyond excited when I received this copy from NetGalley, Karin Slaughter never disappoints! This book was everything I expected, Sara and Will are both individually fascinating characters who I’ve followed since the beginning of both The Grant County and Will Trent series and I cannot recommend them enough. After That Night is heavy, emotional, raw and brilliantly written. I enjoyed the storyline, going back to “that night” and I can’t wait to see where the series will take us next.

Thanks to NetGalley and to the author for giving me the chance to read and review this book.
I really enjoyed the raw and beautifully written narrative style told from the viewpoint of John Church as he takes us through his life, relationships and involvement in the Vere Street Molly house. A true eye opening and thought provoking piece of historical fiction, and of the possibility of forbidden love in an unaccepting and violent society.

This book took me totally by surprise, I’ve never felt so deceived by a title and cover! It is dark, and bizarre and intriguing, and definitely not for the feint hearted. A unique and interesting story, but I got a bit frustrated with the feeling that I’d missed parts of the story somewhere and there were some unanswered questions that will forever bug me!
