to be transparent, the only reason this book even made it onto my radar was because of booktwt and seemingly everyone there having read and loved it. this also means that i went into this not knowing anything, aside from what would obviously be some sort of enemies-to-lovers workplace romance.
I was also unaware of the level of smut this would have, but it was booktwt, so i had an inkling of an idea.
overall, i enjoyed myself. i don’t think it’s anywhere near bad, but also, i don’t think it’s something i’d necessarily recommend to someone. it had its good moments, especially with their dynamic and their banter, but some moments seemed a bit weak and just not for me (which is fine; i’m just one girl).
i think some of the weak points for me were, for sure, the pacing. this is personal preference by the way! but i wish it took more time, though i do recognize that the book is already quite long. it just felt like, for a second, we would have a slow burn, but it happened so quickly, in my opinion.
aside from that, it was so fun and lighthearted! it’s been a while since i’ve indulged in a book like this one, and i forgot how much fun they can be! i really enjoyed the banter between the two of them.
in terms of romance, i think they really nailed what they were trying to do. they bantered and argued and joked, but it was clear almost immediately that push came to shove, they ultimately cared about one another. i would normally talk about each of their characters separately, but while i really did enjoy the characters, they weren’t anything new. they were kind of just like most other characters i would find in a workplace enemies-to-lover romance. they are not necessarily interchangeable, but they are close enough that I don’t need to discuss them separately or in depth.
i would recommend if you were seeking a palette cleanser and wanted a quick, lighthearted, and silly romance! a very quick and easy read without too much commitment.

reviewing this is going to be harder than usual for me. i was constantly liking and getting really into the novel and then quickly falling out with it. i don’t know if to attribute it to my mood reading, its pacing, or maybe my taste in novel changing with time.
i will say that i did really enjoy the flip in narrator! i’ve never read a romance novel where we were in the mmc’s head… and it was actually really interesting! henri as a character overall i really loved (though i wanted to toss him against a wall for his actions toward the end of the book). he was charming but not in an obnoxious way, which i think is always a thin line for some books and authors. he also has the right level of stupid for his age and circumstance.
i really enjoyed his conflicts! of course on the side of uni and romance, but i think most of all, his relationship with his parents, most of all his father. it really worked with me and resonated. i don’t want to give spoilers but the conversation that he and his father have towards the end of the book made me genuinely emotional. i didn’t realize that they were words that i wanted to hear during my college app process (i’m now two years into uni). i mean i wasn’t having those big stakes of applying to an ivy, but to hear a parent who seemingly expects their over achiever to over achieve say those words with such passion was really !! just wow for me.
on to the lovely corinne! she was just lovely start to finish. like its not her fault no one was ready to match her freak…it didn’t make her a freak. i didn’t really have many notes on her character, because i think when most other books have characters of this type they make them very deeply insecure about who they are. but cori really didn’t have that. she was very confident in who she was (though it might be possible i could be misremembering the beginning of the novel and the reasons as to why she wants to start all this in the first place haha - like i said i had a hard time keeping a consistent interest in the novel).
the romance was also really good, though i didn’t expect it to come the way it did. they were very cutie with each other, and it was kind of a blast to be in henri’s head as he noticed the soft spot he seemed to have corinne (and how it was actually more than just friendly teehee).
oh! also i really liked ming. i don’t really have more to add other than i liked having him around as a third wheel… okay that’s all i have to say on him lmao.
overall. i think its worth giving a shot. i mean i liked it at parts so i can’t say its a waste of time because it most definitely isn’t. i first started reading it because i wanted a refresher from books with smut scenes, and this worked for that. i will, however, note that one might like it more if they are more in the mood for a highschool romance, which it turns out was not in the cards for me this time ‘round. i’d say give it a shot if the bio looks interesting, because hey! why not, right!

she’s gone and done it again! it’s been so long since a romance book has had that “oomf” that makes a romance book good, but this one was bursting at the seems with it…
i would also like to preface, that aside from seeing the keira knightley film, i don’t really know much else about pride and prejudice. this means that i can’t speak on whether or not these accurate portrayals of the characters and a good adaption of the original storyline…
however! it was so good! i loved most of the characters (i found some annoying, but it felt like it was meant to be that way so i just rolled with it). and the romance and chemistry was really !!! for me, ya know! like there were multiple moments where i just had to take a breather and just be happy that everything was happening!
all in all incredibly lovely!

i kind of went in fits of like and dislike with this one. graham and “the bridge” ( who i just now noticed was fully unnamed the entire time) are so lovely !! like i was genuinely surprised by how much i loved them (both separately and as a dynamic) ! i will say the book kind of lost me in the middle BUT WOW did it get me back at the end (with all the stuff that i most def did not to see coming at all) !
i didn’t expect to like it as much as i did but i really really did ( and would def recommend ) <3

i think the reason i’ve gone my whole life without a favorite book is because i have been waiting for this one to find me.
it has been so long since a novel has effected me in this way! i would go from giggling and laughing to full blown tears! and god the writing is, in my opinion, so beautiful in the way that just honestly feels so human. like i could imagine the people in my life randomly dropping lines like that, which honestly made it hit that much harder for me!
to speak briefly on the characters so as to not spoil them, I LOVE THEM ALL TO BITS. even the ones that i started out lowkey hating, slowly burrowed their way into my heart. every single one of them.
i also absolutely adore the writing style! (and if anyone knows of books with styles resembling these pls share with the class) there was never one moment where i wasn’t engaged!
i wish i could read it for the first time once more but since i cant will genuinely recommend this to every person i see to see how they react during their first read!
