The FMC, Kara, is a librarian who gets taken captive by criminals who are trying to steal a valuable book. I liked how Kara wasn’t just a passive captive. Instead, she was a strong character who fought back.
The MMC, Caden, is a morally grey British billionaire. Loved the chemistry between Kara & Caden, and there was some great spicy scenes between them 🥵
I liked the dual-POV storytelling and thought that it fit the storyline well. I enjoyed the slow burn and tension between the characters and how Kara’s thoughts and feelings about being a captive changed throughout the story.
“You think I want to know the names of the men sitting around a table where a hostage is the guest of honor?”
“If charm is your only weapon, you’ve come to this negotiation horribly under-armed.”
“I seem to be your captive just as much as you’re mine.”
“You’ll find good looks and charm do not equate a gentleman.”
I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review. Receiving ARC didn’t affect my opinion of the book.

Great contemporary Jack Frost reimagining with shifter/mortal romance and tropes like fated mates and forbidden romance.
This book was amazing! Magical and whimsical but at the same time dark and heartbreaking.
The FMC Jolie is a ballerina, struggling after an accident and lost. Her healing journey and how she overcame her grief were well written and I really liked her as a character.
The MMC, Jax, was more of a mysterious character. I loved learning more and more about him throughout the story. Both the main characters were well developed and multi-dimensional, and the chemistry between them was great
Lark was an amazing friend and I loved how supportive she was. She truly was willing to do anything for her friends.
Loved the ending and would love to read more about Jax & Jolie in the future.
Thank you Sunny Babe PR for the ARC! Receiving ARC didn’t affect my opinion of the book.
“Everything is telling me that I need to stay close. That I need this bond like I need the breeze.”
“I’m not crazy. He’s not a ghost. He’s Jax Frost.”
“My love. My mate. My Tempest.”
“Someone get me a cup and a thick freaking straw. Jax Frost is my favorite treat.”
“Even when you can’t see me, you carry me with you always.”

Great collection of short and spicy taboo stories from different authors.
My two favorites were Brothers Bond by Kinsley Kincaid & Bound by Blood by CJ Riggs. Both stories ended with a cliffhanger and I can’t wait to read more!
Check the CW/TW before reading!
🪢 Brothers Bond by Kinsley Kincaid
Short, fast-paced introduction to Knox and Ryder, meeting again after 4 years in a Halloween party. The tension and chemistry between them was amazing. I can’t wait to read more about these characters!
“He fascinates me. I’m intrigued. I need more.”
🪢 Bound by Blood by CJ Riggs
Spicy right from the start. Again, loved the chemistry between the characters. And the ending left me wanting more.
“Crawl. Or leave. Your choice.”
“You know what they say… Incest is a game the whole family can play.”

There's Nothing Like This: The Strategic Genius of Taylor Swift by Kevin Evers
4.0
An interesting book about Taylor Swift’s career, covering everything from before the debut all the way to the Eras Tour & TTPD.
Overall, a well-written documentation of TS’s popularity, musical career, and business success, along with some real-life events behind the scenes (based on her interviews and sometimes comparing her to other artists), without forgetting her fans and how, since the beginning, Taylor has included them in what she does.
Thank you NetGalley & Harvard Business Review Press for the ARC! Receiving ARC didn’t affect my opinion of the book.

Short and fast-paced dark sapphic romance with a veteran and a girl next door.
Both Nora and Katie were strong characters with difficult backstories, Nora, who lost her leg in the military and has PTSD, and Katie being in a horrible, loveless marriage, but also being in the closet and hiding her true self because of her religious family.
I especially loved how Katie’s character developed throughout the story and she was truly able to become herself and be more confident with Nora’s help.
The chemistry and relationship development between Nora and Katie were great. Loved how protective Nora was of Katie.
“Normal to me is being comfortable. Happy. Not alone.”
“I’m not asking you to leave him. I just thought we could have a casual friends thing.”
“I am not the one that needs saving.”

This book and this whole series are just amazing!
I’ve been wanting to read daddy Sinclair’s story for so long and it didn’t disappoint. Nathaniel is a great character, and I’ve loved seeing different sides of him and learning more and more about him throughout the Devil’s Society series.
I absolutely loved Rylee. She was strong and confident, and knew what she wanted. She could honestly do anything to me 🫠
The relationship development and dynamic between Nathaniel and Rylee were top tier and the spice between them truly was spicing 🔥
Loved learning more about Greta. She was a great character. And I’m always happy to see my man Elijah, and Rain of course 🖤
The epilogues were a perfect ending to the story. I can’t wait to read more!
“Greta is a mystery to many; some even believe she is an urban legend. A myth. But not to me. I see her. Really see her.”
“Well played, Sinclair, but I can play better and smarter.”
“Such a good fucking girl, Puppet.”
“On your knees, Duke. We play by my fucking rules, if we play at all.”
“She is in control. She speaks; I obey.”
“I would hate for him to miss his own death.”
“The heavens are singing to us. It’s raining bodies.”
“It’s a good day to die, isn’t it, Puppet?”

Crystal Iris by Blair M. Shadows

- Plot- or character-driven? A mix
- Strong character development? No
2.5
Urban fantasy with mysteries and magic.
I liked how the FMC, Iris, was a bit older. She was smart and accomplished, working at Harvard as an art history professor.
The concept was interesting, with Iris trying to discover the secrets of an old, magical family heirloom that somehow connected her to an unknown, mysterious man.
The crystals were an interesting idea and I would love to learn more about them.
Overall, I have mixed feelings about this book. I personally liked the beginning and the ending of the book, but felt like there were some unnecessary, slower parts in the middle that almost made me DNF the book. Art is an interesting subject, but the excessive details about art pulled me out of the story.
Also, the marketing as wicked and spicy romantasy, which they seem to have changed after I signed up to read the book (my copy still says “A Wicked Spicy Romantasy Series” on the cover) unfortunately did the book a disservice. From the marketing, I was personally expecting a completely different style of book. This felt more like a slow burn, contemporary romance with some mysterious and magical elements mixed with cowboy romance (cowboy meets city girl) and maybe one or two spicy scenes, definitely not “wicked and spicy”.
Thank you, R&R Book Tours & author Blair M. Shadows for the ARC. Receiving ARC didn’t affect my opinion of the book.

This is one of those books where 5 stars is just not enough, and I would rate it higher if it was possible. All Nova’s books are absolutely amazing and I love all of them, but this one was just on a whole other level.
The story of Reign & Lena is heartbreaking but at the same time so beautiful and healing. I have no words to describe how much this book impacted me. I was crying, laughing, and then crying some more. Truly made me go through all the emotions. After reading the last chapter I just wanted to start reading it again.
The writing was captivating and beautiful. The descriptive writing style made me truly feel for the characters, their guilt and grief but also the friendships with funny banter and love between them. It also made me feel like I was in the middle of the action with them. Loved all the little details of Reign & Lena’s relationship, like how he remembered her coffee order, the nickname, how he noticed all the little details about her. And of course, I loved how they helped each other heal and go through their traumatic experiences together.
The epilogue and ending with that cliffhanger was pure evil and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series!
I had the honor and pleasure to both BETA & ARC read this book. Thank you so much Nova!

“What the hell does progress even mean when everything else is falling apart?”
“You know, for someone who doesn’t want to be fixed, you sure spend a lot of time breaking yourself.”
“It was our spot, and now it feels like the only place I can fucking breathe.”
“It’s love. It’s loss. It’s missing him so much it feels like someone reached inside me and tore out a part of my soul.”
“For the first time in what feels like forever, I feel something other than grief. Hope.”
“Parties are great until you’re in one you can’t fucking escape.”
“If you’re gonna be with me, you need to take me as I am. This mess, this… broken thing.”
