No notes. It’s perfect. An autistic demi/ace who’s hyperfixation of creating a comprehensive supernatural encyclopedia gets pulled into faerie shenanigans
I am struggling for the words… it’s just so good. I just. Ugh perfect. So many moments and characters. It is not an easy read that you can skim, it demands your attention but gods is it worth it. The build is perfect. It’s easier to get into than the orange priory and definitely should be read first. And now I want to re read the Priory to just continue the world
The problem with constant humour is it eventually loses its edge. Especially when it’s the same bit recycled. The dialogue was shut, characters terrible caricatures and plot meh. Crap representation But this was very typical shifter romance and scratched the need so back to regular reading thank you
After reading Bride I wanted to read another shifter novel. Highly rated with thousands thought it would be good. Nope. Terrible inner monologue and plot. Regrets
Reread I do love this world but this series most of all. Unfortunately this is one of my least favourite books in it. The writing, plot and characters are still amazing. The pace is a little slower as they are separated but does well with scrying to connect back and keep things moving. My biggest issue is the romance. I age up YA main characters 5-10 years and it doesn’t help because not only the gap that large but the dynamic is a big deal breaker for me. The saving graces are the dynamics are sweet and tender with Diane leading. Also Pierce has addressed the concerns
I liked the idea of the story more than how it was carried out. It had a similar feel to Harry Potter and Throne of Glass, but it didn't quite measure up to them. It has a solid start, but the future books in the series will need more development.
The characters didn’t feel very real or interesting. The male characters were all shades of grumpy without distinction. If there were fewer characters, the author could have focused more on developing each one.
The plot was okay, but it needed more detail to make it engaging. There wasn't enough background information to help us connect with the characters or the story. Some parts of the story took up too much time and didn't relate to the main plot, which distracted from the novel itself.
Finally, we all enjoy tropes, as they can be fun. However, using them right from the first chapter felt too obvious and set a predictable tone for the rest of the book. Also, there was no enemies to lovers or slow burn. He was obsessed immediately. Even though the idea was interesting, the writing felt too formulaic.
