A mystery from the start, with a bit of a pop psychology thread running through the entire book, a well-rounded and diverse cast of characters.
I highly recommend this book! I loved the use of footnotes to convey additional information, and I loved reading about the father's research. Honestly, I'd like to know more on that front. I also loved that the story unfolds as a retelling from the POV of daughter Mia, giving hints of things to come with off hand comments and little-did-we-knows. This was a pretty quick read as you're immediately pulled in to the story. The tension stays high throughout, and you don't want to put it down! I think I could have read it in just a weekend if I hadn't overbooked myself in January, between work and play, and if I hadn't been annotating. It was so easy to get lost in the story and become fully immersed! I gave it 4.75 stars, knocking of a minuscule .25 star because I am greedy and wanted a bit more at the end.
