Good story. Goes on for a bit in the middle but the ending came too fast.

This book was an easy read, but I don't know that I'd read any of the other books of the series. Not having read other books in the same universe, the first few chapters had me a little confused as to what was happening. A little more background information could have been given to make it also a stand alone novel. I also had some issues with the plot of the book. For one, if there were so many traditions around being merry maker, why would they make an outsider the merry maker without explaining all the traditions??? Secondly, when they speak to the chief, he says the autopsy revealed that she was knocked out with chloroform, hair tied around the statue, and then stabbed. Yet when they reveal the killer, they said he stabbed her then tied her hair around the statue. What a major plot hole.

I liked that this was more than just a Christmas romance, though things between both Vicky & Owen and Blythe & Sam seemed to be resolved very quickly in the second half . Cute Christmas read 🎄
