Decently paced story; definitely kept me guessing. The ending wasn’t expected, but I definitely felt the denouement was a bit rushed and took away from the book overall.

The audiobook version was great, the a quarter star docked because the main reader would sometimes use the wrong voices for the wrong characters which was a distraction. Overall, this was a solid listen; that is my only complaint. I can’t wait for the next book to come out! The cliffhanger is a killer! The other half a star docked for that particular thing. A lot is tied up, but there were too many questions and loose ends!

Did not finish book. Stopped at 24%.
Too many inconsistencies (final straw was Eldas saying he’d begin teaching her in two days, but two pages later, Luella talks about the incident causing him to agree to teach her, referencing it as from yesterday). Writing is mediocre overall but not bad. I’d recommend this to those who are just dipping their toes into the vast ocean of romantasy.
