Who Said Mobsters Were Scary? by J.F. Miev, Aria Clark

This book is absolutely perfect for people looking for a Mafia romance that doesn't have super dark themes and no grocery list of triggers.

The way Chai was so obsessed with Leo after meeting him once?! And the way Leo is so possessive of Chai throughout the entire book, yummy. I absolutely NEED all of that in my life right now, phew. The way we slowly see these two guys crashing head over heels in love with each other is absolutely everything. You got a Mafia setting with a dash of mystery all wrapped up with a double bi awakening and a couple of dorks; what more could you ask for??.

Thought I would take a break from contemporary and switch over to a little fantasy, and let me tell you, this book was surprising good! We have Finn, who is a human, working with Marcus, who is a vampire. Honestly, this book had so many great things in it—mystery and a cliffhanger, which did make it a HFN ending. Finn does have prosthetics, but he's so resilient with everything, and it doesn't slow him down, which I thought was really well written. Then we have Marcus, who gets all possessive when he SWEARS he hates Finn's entire being (yeah, right).

The whole Power Exchange written in this book?? Delicious. There was such an amazing combination of HIGH heat and just overall sweetness. Yes this is a Dark Romcom, but there were a handful of times were j just wanted to comfort Sweet Scotty 🥺 Is he  absolutely delusional? Yes, but you know what I love him for that exact reason. He saw something he wanted and he did NOT back down until he got it. And the way Brody loved him in his own special way, that's goals right there.

I LOVE MY FINALE MEN!
They are constantly getting back up again and again, even when everyone basically has it out for them. But, Dear Lord, every single time a character from a previous book kept showing up, it was like witnessing the Avengers assemble. They've come such a long way since The Fence incident, and I just didn't want to stop reading their story. It's safe to say I loved every single character that was mentioned in this book. This is series is without a doubt one of the best things I've ever read.

The humor and action just melts perfectly together with my all time favorite family. Although, have you ever just met a character and wanted them to die in as many ways as possible? Yeah, that's me with Lucas. This man needs to be offed so badly. I needed him to die like two books ago (sorry). How dare he STILL try to manipulate Leland and Cassel when they were just trying to live life.
But I loved the little moments that showed Leland participating in the family activities because he never got to experience that as a kid 😭 and the CRUMBS that we were fed of Cassel and Jeremy (my favorites).

*received an ARC in exchange for an honest review*

If you're looking for a faced paced storyline with that's both equal spicy and sweet, look no further.  We got our human, we got our succubus, and we got our witch. Quite honestly that whole combination is what drew me to this book in the first place. I LOVED Hyacinth, she's my twin for real. None athletic, can't drive, loves female monsters?? Check, check, and check.
Although it could just be me, but I did feel that some plot points were written in some ways that felt TOO fast. We meet hyacinth and she quickly develops a relationship with Addison and Liliana, but that was around 30-40 pages in. Truthfully how much can you know about each other by then to say "I'm fine with dating both of them"? But besides that the whole spice scenes were written well with constant consent and safe words being used.

3 stars for me ⭐⭐⭐

THE FOUND FAMILY TROPE IN THIS BOOK. Oh, my god. I absolutely adored the way Alice showed us just how much Leland and Cassel have prevailed since putting Lucas in jail. Is Cassel just as delusional as Leland? Absolutely. But you know what we love that for them, because they each got their dream man. And Cassel is such a sweetheart! Granted in his own way, but a sweetheart none the less. While Leland and Jackson might be the kings of unhingedness, Jeremy and Cassel are DEFINITELY the kings of pure chaos. But as usual, they balance each other out in the best way possible 🫶🏼

ugh my heart! My favorites got married, they had a child (for a bit) and they adopted another dog 😩 granted there was the whole twist with Jackson life being the one in danger this time, but king Leland was there to make sure his man was safe. I loved reading their story and their interactions just make my day.

Whew what a rollercoaster! Being a continuation of Leland and Jackson story, this book definitely added more depth to their relationship. It was really nice to read just how MUCH both guys love each other and just how far they were willing to go to be with one another. But the way Leland's past creeps up on him?? Talk about plot twists.
I also really enjoyed seeing previous characters from the first book make appearances throughout the chapters, as well as an introduction of a new character, who we will hopefully see more of in the next book.

Honestly Sage supremacy 🛐
Let me start off by saying this story was just so well written. I honestly put it off for way too long, but I'm so glad that I picked it up. It had sweetness, realness, and such strong FMC's. One of my favorite parts was when Sage and Noah had their little drawing match in their notebooks again after so many years apart. Plus, the way Sage just THINKS about Noah, had me in an absolute chokehold.
