I thought I was only going to be learning more about Trevor Noah, but I fell in love with his mother as well ❤️

"'Why are you crying?' 'I was reading.'"

Sometimes books don’t find us until the right time - and this one found me at the exact right time. This book truly is written for book lovers and those who understand the impact the written word has on our lives.

This is the kind of book you feel lucky to have read. Thank you, Gabrielle Zevin, for writing a book that shows the beauty and love and magic that are inherent in every day life.

I did nothing else today but read this book. I was supposed to work - didn't really do that. Should have made dinner - definitely didn't do that. Clean the cats' litter boxes? Nope.

While the storyline isn't entirely revolutionary and the writing can be a bit stilted, Maas still managed to completely wrap me up in this world and I could not put the book down. I wasn't entirely surprised by where the story ended up, but loved how we got there. Looking forward to book 2!

3.75 stars - I've read this book before and it was exactly the same as I remember. I am entranced by this world, I love this story, and Karigan is a strong and deserving heroine. This book suffers from "first in the series"itis, in that it feels and reads a bit shallow, as if the author is finding her legs in a new world and a new story - it doesn't have the same depth of emotion or attention to explaining and exploring certain scenes that I'd prefer, but I believe as I read on that the author will do this more! Can't wait for book 2!

This book made me so uncomfortable in the best ways. I was challenged, I learned, and I rethought a lot of previously held beliefs about myself and how I fit into this world.

I am SCREAMING for book 2
