I really enjoyed the second of this series. The plot was interesting and tense, I enjoyed seeing how Anton and Calla's relationship evolved, the magic system really came into its own, and the ending was a satisfying resolution to this story while also setting everything up for the next installment. There were times when the magic and the other got a little too convoluted, or complex, and I wasn't sure I knew exactly what was happening, but this didn't bother me too much. I don't mind a little healthy frustration if I'm invested enough to want the answers, which I certainly did here. Very solid follow-up to Immortal Longings. Well done, Ms Gong 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

By far my least favorite of the three. The plot pacing feels off with some small events taking up too many pages and some big events feeling rushed. Everything is melodramatic and feels over exaggerated. And I absolutely LOATHE both Nesta and Elain. I cannot stand how everyone treats them, I can't stand their attitudes, I just hate them so much. Still worth reading, especially if you liked the first two, and I do actually enjoy the ending but definitely the weakest of the trilogy.

Just like ACOTAR, the plot of this book feels a little like something I would have imagined when I was 15, but I can't help loving it. I just hate how much I love these books because the hype is unreal and I want so badly to say they don't live up to it... but they absolutely do. Even as a reread, I'm speeding through these and can't put them down. The characters are complex, the world is rich and vibrant, fantasy elements abound, there's a perfect mix of action and storytelling, the most irresistibly loveable found family, a passionate love story, and it's just so much fun to read. Embrace the fever dream and enjoy the ride. No notes. Chef's kiss. If you need me, I'll be reading ACOWAR

Not much has changed... still the OG romantasy for a reason. Despite the sloooow beginning this is everything you're looking for in a book like this. It's got drama, it's got not-too-gory-but-still-shocking-violence, it's got hot faeries, it's got hot faeries falling in love.... what more could you want? This doesn't pretend to be anything it's not, it just embraces the fever dream and it 👏🏻 works 👏🏻
