Things I have enjoyed with this series. Pip the pet pig is the best. Renzo’s character is hilarious and I love him. Winnie, the best friend, is great. And I love Rhi’s compassion towards creatures and other humans.
However, overall for me, this series is starting to drag on. There’s little to no growth from the MMCs and the FMC. And her character is inconsistent at the best of times and she seems fairly underdeveloped at this point in the series considering Book 5 is the last in the series. Also, the lack of communication exceeds a level I can tolerate. It’s like I’m reading about the consequences of DnD players actions in a fantasy story. Tons of missteps and forgetting that they have certain magic or magic items at their disposal.

Not much has happened in the 4 books for Book 5 to feel like an adequate conclusion is forthcoming. There are plenty of unanswered questions that are major parts of the plot that are all supposed to be “resolved” in the next book. I just don’t see how it’s possible.
Information about history and how magic is derived in this world setting is not adequately explained. Which has led to there being little information shared about the FMC’s source of magic as well. I would have preferred the series be more forthcoming with some details to keep the pacing moving forward.
I mean no disrespect to the author at all but, I am not sure if I will finish the series.

Book was super cute. It’s a mix of plot and character driven story. There is some focus on character development but not super deep but not surface level either, so mid I suppose. I enjoyed the book and would recommend if you are looking for something cute.

Beautifully written. Coates has an awareness that is enviable and awakening. He provides a perspective that is unforgettable, heart wrenching, and exquisitely eye opening. I highly recommend this book.
