What Lies Beyond the Veil by Harper L. Woods
Did not finish book. Stopped at 39%.
Did not finish book. Stopped at 39%.
DNF at 39%. There is so much infodumping in the first 1% of the book. The plot is cliche. The male lead is not attractive imo. He refuses to accept “no” and won’t let her change without watching her. Ew. Just no.

I think the book would’ve been better if it had just focused on Lyra. I was not at all interested in Gemma‘s half.
The fatphobia was awful, some of the worst I’ve read in any book. If Lyra’s section had not been so good, this would have gotten 1 or 2 stars from me.

I DNF’d this as a kid, and I wish I had DNF’d this now. It’s outdated and extremely fatphobic. The plot is predictable. The dialogue is sometimes so bad that it hurts to read. The kids don’t talk like kids. Ugh. I was wishing this book would just end already.

Wow. That was like ACOTAR but worse. I see the vision, but it didn’t land for me. The main character annoyed me. The difference between Silvers and Reds makes no sense. How did no one notice the MC’s blood color? I know the author mentions they don’t look different on the outside, but silver blood would very obviously make someone look different than red blood.
