I am unwell. Am I surprised about the direction of this book? Only slightly. Am I still shocked and confused and sad? Absolutely. I can’t review this without spoilers which I won’t do for a while. But honestly, Rebecca? Right in front of my me?

I can’t get enough of Hyde and Resa and the entire Myrrdin town. This time, Hyde’s family are back and another murder happens - right on Hyde’s front door. While we rush to find out the killer before someone else turns up… ashy.. we also get the absolute sweetness of Hyde and Resa’s relationship.

These books are such lovely cozy, queer, murder mysteries. Every time a new one releases it just makes me so happy. These books may be fast paced and super quick reads but they’re heartwarming and accepting. If only we all lived in a town like this one.  I can’t wait for book 4.

I loved returning the absolute chaotic world of the Lachlan family and Prickle Island Zoo.

Dove has always been one of my favourite characters, I love her entire personality. Her brashness, stubbornness and nerdiness. I love the D&D references, and the friends-to-enemies-to-friends-to-lovers tropes, the toucans and the crocodiles & the well written assholiness of the celebrity world.

I was so worried toward the end. I knew that there had to be a HEA but I was so stressed. I have such a soft spot for the Prickle Island Zoo world, I hope that it will continue but this story, and all the ones before, will forever live on my re-read and recommend lists.

Thank you to the author for a chance to read and review.

This is such an adorable cozy, sapphic fantasy novel. D&D inspirations, magic, realms, forbidden love and bookstores. Not sure what else you could ask for.

I loved the way that reading this felt like experiencing a new relationship, or relationship stage - for real life. You could feel the way that Morgan’s anxiety, self esteem and abandonment issues drove her decisions. It was really well written. And her hyperactivity too. We love some ADHD rep. The same is said for Echo and her inability to communicate based on her people pleasing traits. Liam and Avery and their nemesis status was written well but also so funny to me.

This book presented characters with unique, but very current and real-world concerns, and the author wrote them in such a way that they learnt from their mistakes, and grew as characters - I think that is sometimes so hard to do, but I feel like it was achieved.

And let’s not forget to mention our adorable side characters! A grumpy frog - I never knew I was missing this in my reading life, but Nigel was everything I needed.  An incredibly well-read and book smart mouse, Faezyre is amazing & he brought me so much joy. And Igni. Lord Igni, master of heat and flames, shaker of worlds. My absolute favourite Iggy. Kit, who had had the hardest run of things, my heart broke for his story. Kallie, the most misunderstood being that just wanted to be wanted. Petra, the spunky tavern owner.

I really enjoyed this book, my little gay heart is happy, and I can’t wait for everyone else to read this.
