This book has so much more to it that I didn't realise because of it's film adaptation and the way people talk about it. I was very interested in the nature of the sex scenes which were completely not what I expected, and the murder scenes were so, so much worse.

Beautiful poetry, and Hell in particular was excellent to read. Couldn't engage with the history but the writing was nice and the editions I read were brilliant.

The first half is so, so hard to listen to, I would really caution people to take trigger warnings seriously, I nearly didn't make it through! Second half was easier, with a lot of interesting stuff about celebrities I knew 👀 and of course it was so good that it ended so positively.

Did not finish book. Stopped at 31%.
Not what I thought it was - far more focus on historical events/people than medieval disease and medicine!
