I had high expectations for this as a fan of the broken earth trilogy and I wasn't let down. It was a bit slow in parts and I didn't love it the way I do broken earth but it was still a fun read.
Jemison has such a distinct voice that I adore and it was clearly present here.

Dalia Davies has such beautiful poetic writing. Though I do think the phrase velvet steel was overused.

I enjoyed this a lot. The world building was incredible and so much is packed into such a short book. That being said it was still a little slow paced for my taste. Still a great read.
