Wow, I’m completely speechless. This book was everything I didn’t know I needed. From start to finish, it took me through a rollercoaster of emotions—I laughed, I cried, I gasped, and I even found myself holding my breath. Nathaniel and Ash are simply everything. Their chemistry from the very first scene was off the charts—the sexual tension was palpable, and the spice? Definitely top tier in the history of romance.

I also loved that Ash has Type 1 diabetes. It was beautifully woven into the story and made her character even more real and resilient. Ash is such a badass—so strong, and she just never gives up. Meanwhile, Nathaniel’s protectiveness made him ultimate book boyfriend material—completely swoon-worthy. His POV totally broke my heart. His longing and pining for Ash was everything, and I melted every time.

I found it fascinating how death wasn’t portrayed as the enemy but almost like a character itself. Augustus, too, was such a lovable presence. Can he be my grandpa, please? The glimpses we got of Tessie and Solomon were adorable—I practically died from the cuteness overload.
Finally, the writing…wow. Ava Hunter’s style is simply amazing. I loved every bit of it, and I’m already itching to read more from her!

The Haunted Heart by Penelope Gerhardt was an enjoyable but somewhat mixed experience.

The story is short and intense, with a good balance of smut and fall/Halloween vibes that kept me entertained.

The atmosphere was perfect for the season, and the writing had moments that really drew me in. However, despite those strong elements, I didn’t feel fully invested in the plot or characters, which is probably why it didn’t stand out as much as I had hoped.

That said, it did leave me curious about the universe, and I might check out more from this series or author. While it wasn’t a complete favorite, it had enough charm to keep me interested.
