Usually find Lou de Ber pretty reliable but this just felt messy and a bit all over the place. Still charming in parts but just not structured in a way which gives anything much weight imo

Good books about dull but yearning lives are like an itch that can’t be scratched for me. If you liked stoner you’ll probably enjoy this a lot, but who do i think I am - this is a classic and you don’t need to hear that from me!

I Really wasn’t sure if it was for me until about page 80 or 90 as following the small and vague vignettes style of writing was something I was struggling with. However, once the plot going on in the background became a bit more obvious I quite enjoyed it. Something a bit different

Faulkner’s Light in August (incredible title) is so understated yet so rich and powerful in its story telling. This was a joy to read and properly American gothic, yum 😋
