Overall I thought that this was a continuation of the series, but some parts dragged and had you wondering where this story was going. Who needs enemies when you have a family like these two and people willing to sabotage their own - just shameful.

Nice conclusion to the Bennetts…….But I do wish that Nessah got told the truth earlier so that she could have avoided all those years of heartbreak but she’s getting double for all her troubles and I’m happy for her.

I wonder if we’ll get a story about Mina and what really happened to her parents.

Soooo Neyah and Kerr are definitely fated mates right??? Whew that’s going to be MESSSSSSY !!!!!

Murder mystery with Djinn, Ifrits, and colonizing white people - what more can you ask for 🤷🏾‍♀️ lol but in all honesty this was a nice read - audio made it even more enjoyable and I would recommend it

Think of it as like your modern Cinderella story, shy girl in college glows up and finally gets the man of her dreams. It was a cute and easy read. Sometimes a little bit of delusion is needed to accomplish your dreams 😂

Glad that Paris also got her man.

Side note: Michelle was definitely doing wayyy too much.

Choyce needed therapy not dick 😫😫😫

Lovely love story but Choyce is an idiot - I’m sorry there is no other easy way to say it. But the way she let Ramir waste so much of her time was criminal - it wasn’t even a relationship it was a one sided situationship that only HE benefited from and the fact that she kept on lamenting on what he wouldn’t do as compared to Simeon really had me hot and side eyeing her. Like don’t get me wrong I get why she stayed but a person should only have a handful of times to let you down for you to keep on letting them in - the amount of things that she allowed herself to put up with had me just like come again?? So no lie, every time she would bring him up- I’d just skip it bc what do you meannnnnnnn 🤨😐

But I’m glad he disappointed her one last time and into the arms of a Mason bc their banter was toooo funny (like with most of the Mason’s lol) !!!

But truly in all seriousness she really did need some therapy - like the loss of her family, potential guilt of her parents leaving when they did, her extended family trying to scam her, Ramir - like mama went through a lot and really needed someone to help her work through that so that she won’t be continuously triggered.

And even with all that, I truly did enjoy this story overall.

Sooo many secrets, soo many lies…..and soo many questions

Overall this was a very solid sequel and really helped move the story along - I wonder how it’ll end and if all the questions I do have that have been posed by the book will be answered.

Questions like: what really happened to Celeste and was it a plan all along?
- Who got rid of the architect and why?
- Why did only some of the aces have their memory wiped (Johan & Master Thakur)
- Why does Sebastian keeping making deals with Gia?!?!
- What happened to Sebastian when he attempted to go live in a Marvelian city?
- And honestly who is behind all of this forreal foreal?

If you have young adults, that are the intended age range, I believe that this book will be good in helping them see how prejudice can be cruel and unfair - since this book really mirrors what happened when black kids integrated white schools. I think it’ll also teach them how to be brave or the importance of doing the right thing even when others aren’t or when it might not feel too good to not do what others are doing, even when you really want to fit in.

All in all it’s a good book & I highly recommend it. But I think for me personally (as an adult lol) I’m okay on reading the 3rd book and not anything on this book, I just don’t want to be upset at kids being kids lol if that makes any sense - this book is definitely wonderful for its intended audience- I just sometimes don’t have the patience at times for childishness (which they rightfully are lol so it’s more of a me thing than anything).

But once again this book was really nice.  Gia really needs to get a grip on herself bc she’s beefing with 12 year olds 😫 like ma’am get a grip PLS !!!

I liked the overall story but Milan was slightly annoying as a main character- glad it was a novelette bc I don’t know how much more I could have taken of her because why did she go off on the station manger like that??? Like girl be forreal 💀😫

But overall it was a decent inbetween read

Overall this is a nice sweet, though sometimes corny/overly gushy book. And don’t get me wrong, I like corny lol but this one just didn’t feel believable and felt too rushed, especially towards the end - one minute they were trying to want to take it slow bc it’s still very new, but then on the next sentence over they’re both planning on meeting the entire family…it was just a lot and felt so rushed.

So despite their big words of admiration and love it just ultimately fell flat to me……and I really wanted to love it but I just couldn’t believe it. I sadly left reading the last couple of pages saying “Sure Jan, if you say so”

This review contains SPOILERS: This was such an unsatisfactory ending to this story.

Damien for all the harm, pain, and suffering that he cost shouldn’t have made it out alive. WHAT WAS THE POINT OF THE ENTIRE SERIES IF THAT MF WAS JUST ABLE TO LIVE WITH ALL HIS RICHES?????

Also why in the world were we introduced to a new couple: Harrison & Savi when the core friend group is what we’ve known for the first two books?! This was just for a lack of better words lame. At least Terry died. But everything else - 😑😒

Once again this book needed trigger/content warnings:
- Mention of sexual assault
- Physical violence
- Drugging
