After Me, the Great Flood by Jayson Robert Ducharme
5.0
After reading Alessa’s Melody and reviewing Come Forth in Thaw, I asked to be able to read the next release by Jayson Robert Ducharme in exchange for a review. This is one author I will never pass up on his call for ARCs. I really enjoy his work!
The story centers around Lena, a timid and haunted woman of twenty four with a young child at her side. As a young single mother, Lena wants to start over to improve both of their lives. With this in mind Lena finds a listing from Ellis Delapore, and quickly finds herself living in the other part of his house.
Lena and Ellis start to build a steady, stable friendship within the time she moves in right up until things start to effect her. She starts seeing and hearing creepy elements and starts to wonder whether they are really there or if she is in fact losing her mind. She goes to her dear friend Ellis and tells him everything.
From there, I will leave you to pick the book up and find out what happens to Ellis and Lena. I guarantee that it’s a conclusion you won’t forget!
This novella has all the elements of a cosmic horror story. A descent into madness followed by sheer terror. This was a pleasant surprise. I knew it would be dark based on the authors writing style, but the cosmic elements slowly crept in and I couldn’t help but finish it the same day I started it because I didn’t want to lose that creep element involved.
Ducharme centers his characters around grief and mental health awareness in a dark way. If these are your things you really need to check out his work.
Pick this up when it is released on June 29!

Come Forth in Thaw: A Dark Fantasy Horror Novella about Trauma and Mental Illness by Jayson Robert Ducharme
5.0
I was gifted this book by the author for an honest review.
A desperate, devastated mother arrives in a New Hampshire state park in order to find her missing son who she suspects has come here to commit suicide. This heart wrenching, grief heavy tale is one you won’t soon forget. Your heart will be heavy, if not completely ripped out by the time you reach the end.
In this novella, we travel along with a grieving mother searching for her son, but we also delve into a struggle of what depression can do to a person mentally and physically. Depression isn’t the only mental health theme in this story, but you will see once you read this for yourself.
Do you have what it takes to pick this up and travel with this grief stricken mother? This dark horror/fantasy will blow you away in ways you didn’t know you could be blown away. This is a novella that should not be ignored. It slaps the hell out of the old taboo of “don’t ask, don’t tell” and not talking about things.
This is the second story I have read by Jayson, and I honestly am blown away by his talent. I can’t wait to see what he does next. The novella packed a punch where every word counts. The description was beautiful.
