so the possessive alpha ott male does not work for everyone but it works for me lmao. I read this book straight through, was unable to put it down. The plot felt off at times but overall enjoyable read!

As someone who loves insta-love, over the top heroes and possessive streaks in romance books, I really enjoyed this read. Lincoln had me in a chokehold from the start. NOTHING that man did was okay lmao it was red flag central but also everything had me on the floor melting and also screaming I loved him so much lol. The vibes of this book were very similar to that of Liars Like Us by J.T. Geissinger which was the last darker romance book I devoured and really enjoyed so that was amazing for me haha. As someone who has read other dark hockey romances, this was great. I enjoyed the insta-love, “I finally found my soulmate” energy that was very evident in the chemistry between Monroe and Lincoln, I will eat that up EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. I love a good soulmate moment. The way he called her dream girl from the beginning and was just all about her, and the surprise tattoo?? It literally sent me into outer space.
After reading other reviews on this book I can see why people were rating it low especially if it was not marketed as a dark romance and you were not expecting to read what was included. There were dark elements in there that would be off putting to anyone who was not clearly given that information beforehand but as a relatively seasoned dark romance reader I loved the hockey x dark romance crossover that was happening here. While I do see those points and they are valid, the TWs are now included and it is marketed as a dark romance so I knew what I was getting into and the changes that needed to be made marketing wise seemed to have occurred.
Personally I am a little tired of the virgin FMC trope where it is praised that the hero is the only one who she has ever been intimate with. It worked for this book and I wasn’t mad at its inclusion but I just wished it wasn’t as common as it is in darker romance books I suppose. Just something that I wish we saw less of because I hate that double standard in real life and fictionally.
The reason it isn't a full 5 stars is i felt a lull with the third act conflict and the end of the book was good but I just felt like it fell off a little bit excitement wise for me but I still enjoyed the entire book.
With that being said this was still a super enjoyable read for me. I felt that even Monroe was someone who needed her hand to be held by Lincoln in life that she had yet to experience. She was still a strong lead who gave it back to him when he was a dick so I liked that. The characters were likable and their chemistry felt real. I am not someone who reads for realistic situations and if you are, this book probably isn't for you in the sense that hockey and the possessive over the top vibes from Lincoln seemed out of place, but I loved it. I adored Ari and I loved that he continually gave Lincoln so much shit oh my god it was amazing. Excited for his book and the continuation of this series!

overall this was a great read that I felt flew by, the almost 500 pages were nothing! Elijah and Sophia were cute and fun, I enjoyed reading about their love as well as their grief journeys which I think this author does a great job at writing all different types of grief journeys! There were parts that were not my favorite, I just felt they were a little too on the nose for me at times and I couldve lived without them but overall enjoyable time!

this was the best out of the three plot wise but it still felt meh, i really did try to get into it but I just did not connect fully like I thought I was going to with Colton. Colton and Shelly were hot af though, I needed more idk what but something. Will after the halloween party had me dead though lmao the way he walked out of the chapel mid session to figure out how to apologize lol I cant

in terms of romance I liked this one more than The Psycho, I am a fan of insta-love so their first time meeting had me on my knees!! the overall plot still feels a little bland to me, good but not show stopping. I feel like Colton is going to deliver what I have been looking for in this third book but this was better than the first for me. Just missing some flair so to speak

i needed more from this, it wasn't what I was expecting in terms of dark romance, like I think I just needed more. It had some good parts and I liked Adam and Olivia. the soldiers of anarchy felt a little cringy to me at time, like them calling themselves soldiers was almost overdone to me, continuing with the series bc I hear the third one is good however this was very middle of the pack for me

this was a great retelling of hades/persephone. the ending felt rushed like I thought it was gonna have a cliffhanger because of how close we were to the ending before things started to happen but overall enjoyable. definitely will be checking out the rest of this series
