A cute story about how children, no matter what type of family unit they come from, fantasize about the life they would live if they were brought up in a different family. Oliver is adopted and becomes angry at his father for disciplining him and so he goes into a fantasy world imagining who his birth parents are. The drawings while simple are still beautiful. Overall this was a solid four stars!

The Mermaid books are a great way to introduce your child to science. This book contains a science experiment you can do with your child just like Fig shows Maia and Trezzie how to do. I love the illustrations and the detailed science at the back of the book. This book isn’t just a great read but a great learning opportunity. The characters are lovable and timeless.

Such a cute story about a boy on his unbirthday. The presents are unique and have special gifts of their own. The characters are lovable and relatable. The illustrations are well done and beautiful to look at. Definitely worth the read and your kids will love it too!

This is a well written fantasy science fi type novel with a strong protagonist. The details really draw you into the story and keep you turning pages until you are done. I loved the twists and turns, the non stop action, adventure and of course the relationship you can develop with the characters. I enjoyed this one so much I am gonna go back and read the first book as I have a feeling I missed some pretty significant moments. Absolutely worth reading!

This is the latest in the series that follows teenage amateur sleuth, Emma. The series itself is full of adventure, mystery, fun, and drama. This book is no exception. While being a quick read it continues to follow the life of Emma who while preparing for Christmas finds herself embroiled in another mystery. You can read this as a stand alone but while you will get a great storyline and fun characters you are missing out on what really makes all those characters tick. Throughout the series we learn so much about each one’s backstory and you always get a great storyline and another adventurous mystery that must be solved! I definitely recommend reading this story and all Emma’s stories!!

Family secrets, hidden magical talents and a school no one wants to be at all add up to a humorous, adventurous, fantastical, world. Makayla ends up where no one wants to be, The Grace Digger Academy and while there she begins to find out she has undiscovered abilities, plus some long buried family secrets. This was a quick read and an enjoyable one. The character development and storyline were well thought out and kept my attention from the beginning to the end.

Set in post civil war Chicago this fun, adventurous novel is the first in this series. I have read several of the books in this series and decided after the last one that I should go back and read them in order and include the beginning of Emma’s story in that. I absolutely love this series! The characters are very well developed (even the secondary characters) and you will love, hate, laugh and cry with them. If you haven’t read this series it is so worth your time and if you have read some in this series but not in order it is so worth your time to go back and do it in order!

This is a cute story with several important lessons embedded in it. The illustrations are absolutely beautiful. The cherry blossoms are always a favorite of mine. I wish this story was a tiny bit longer and answered some of the lingering questions (this the reason for the 4 star rating), but overall it was a good story. I would say first through third grade readers would enjoy this the most.

Post apocalyptic adventure awaits in this page turner of a novel. I thoroughly enjoyed the read and simply couldn’t put it down. If you are like me and find yourself glued to stories and simply can’t turn off the lights and go to sleep I recommend not reading this on a school or work night. I literally didn’t sleep and went to work still thinking about this story. The characters development and the strength of the storyline really adds up to an amazing fantastical tale that has you wanting more. A brilliant read for anyone who loves fantasy and adventure!

Drama, Action, Romance and Plot Twists!! This explosive novel plows out of the gate running full out! Action packed, great characters, unforgettable story line and adventure will keep you riveted from page one until the very last word! Since reading this book I heard that two of the characters were from a previous series by this author. I enjoyed his writing style so much I will be going on to read that series as well!
