Cringy in some parts and i lost it when during the səx scenes the audiobook reader said pu$sy like ten times but overall cute 💜

bell hooks succeeded in what she wnated to do with this book: she created a deeply accessible and intuitive manual that can teach whomever some pillars of feminism. 
Her view on men and their role in the movement was very interesting and definitely something I'll think about 🌹 

English is not my first language so the elaborate vocabulary was kinda hard to follow at times. 
The plot was definitely interesting, but the book was too fcking long omg
I almost dnfed it 150 pages in 

Zhu killing the kid was unexpected and i kinda hated her for it

This book does an amazing job navigating the relationships that Gifty, the main character, has with her religion and her family. 
The way mental illness and the death of a relative are explored is so deep and true that it hurts either because it brings back memories or because simply you can feel the pain Gifty has to endure

It's so depressing and real that i would advise to check carefully the tws.
