Had to take a break for a few months but I’m glad I finished it! I’m finding that I really enjoy Ms. Burelli’s writing. For me, there was a bit too much going on trope wise & that stalled my continuous reading & so while I was glad Huxley got his story told I think this one wasn’t as quite enjoyable as book 1 was for me & it looks like more stressful situations are in the remaining 2 books. 😅 listened via Anyplay.

I am such a glutton for the second chance trope & this one didn’t disappoint, which was a surprise honestly bc it’s not the norm for 2 books with the same trope to be a hit for me. Now there is a second book but I honestly can’t think of who it might be about but I’m excited to dive into it. Especially bc the town of New Hope has an excellent eclectic group of people that I just know would welcome me with open arms if it was real. Listened via Anyplay.

The finalization of Ilya & Shane’s story with all the characters cameos. Loved learning more in depth of what makes Ilya, Ilya & how Shane really stepped up in the best way possible after the playoffs & a huge bravo to Ilya for speaking up about his depression. Dealing with depression myself, I found Ms. Reid didn’t overdo Ilya’s issues but gave enough detail & one angry outburst to really describe what it can often be like for those of us with clinical depression & anxiety. Anyway, this was a fantastic series & I really did love every minute even when I was uncomfortable. 😂 listened via Anyplay.

These two… just are too stinking cute. I just can’t. A reformed, closeted gay man who plays hockey & the social media manager of the team. Loved seeing more of Ilya Rozanov as well as the cameos of Ryan & Fabian. One more book & aside from the novellas the series is done. I’ve seriously enjoyed every story (though Ilya & Shane’s was a bit difficult for me to stick with 😂) & liked how each story is about a character from a different team of the eastern region. Age gap, which I generally love. Really enjoyed this & while I don’t care for Eric’s issue with Kyle’s age yet acknowledging his growing feelings for him we then find out that it took Eric 2 whole months to get his head out of his ass. But obv he does & begs Kyle for a redo. Listened via Anyplay.

Ryan & Fabian. Defenseman & indie musician. Ryan is brought over to Toronto, CA & meets Fabian again 13 years later at the drugstore. 😂 really liked that choice. Really liked the connection to book 2 (Ilya & Shane) & by the ending wasn’t surprised at Ryan’s decision. Listened via Anyplay.

First book by PWS & it was exactly what I was looking for. A second chance for the MMCs & I’m a sucker for that trope, especially when the angst isn’t overly intense. I’m definitely interested in reading more by this author! Listened via Anyplay.

OMG this story definitely went all over the place & I do mean the duet in whole. But this book really reached, especially drawing out Poppy’s character as the antagonist until the climax at the end. I personally think Charles & August’s story could have been told in one book with maybe a novella but it isn’t so… I’m sad to leave this big beautiful family but it’s been fun & the epilogue definitely projected HEA for the immediate family characters (not including James). So enemies to lovers is a trope that I am very wary of, let alone that the line between hate & love is actually just the other side of the same coin. This story of Ilya & Shane definitely needed to be written but I think there was too much of their backstory which made the book longer than it needed to be IMHO. But I am glad that we get a finality to their story even though the author chose to make them wait a decade for that HEA. Anyway, I’m glad we have their story nonetheless & their persistence to be together was great to read. Listened via Anyplay.
