I expected a cosy bit of speculative fiction; I got weird, rambling literary fiction with a heavy dose of weird. This one was not for me.

I think if you were a fan of both series, this would be solid gold. But without that, it’s a bit meh.

The whole satanic panic thing was a bit dated. But the story was well told with compelling and unique characters.

Achingly beautiful story of love and  loss. But, I assure you, I did not know the end.

Did not finish book. Stopped at 12%.
I thought this was a novelette. Turns out it was an extended preview. I’d never have downloaded it if I’d known that. I’d buy the rest, but it turns out it’s only available on Amazon.

I think I would have really enjoyed this if it were a TV series, but I struggled with it as a book. The characters were compelling – but there were a lot of them. And every last one of them is sometimes referred to by first name and sometimes by surname. It took me forever to realise there were half as many crew as I first thought. I think I’d like it a lot more if I read it a few more times – but who has time for that?
