Since it was in third person I just didn't connect in the first couple of chapters but still needed to know how the story played out. Skimmed most of it. Meh - which is a bummer. I was hoping to love it. Also, this is not a standalone. Very clearly there were stories before this. I guess I didn't need them to read this one but probably should have read book 1 first? IDK, not a standalone.
This book had me in a mess. I was bawling so hard. Haley and Cade really got me. What these two went through had me in a choke hold. I couldn't read it fast enough. I adored this one. Might be my favorite in the series and I am not sure I was expecting to love Cade as much as I did.
This first half of this book was so emotional; I was sobbing. The things that Poppy went through, sacrificed and endured was so much more than one person could handle and it killed me. But man was she tough as nails. And the way that Walker wanted to be there for her; the way he regretted his choices and hated himself for them and vowed to atone and always be there for Poppy . . . swoon. I just fell hard for him. The second half was . . . huh? I don't want to give too many details 'cause spoilers but that story line felt weird to me. And the conflict was resolved with no details and that was super disappointing. Would have loved to see what the dirt was. Oh well. I still adored Walker and Poppy's story. I loved that we got to see tiny peeks into the other puck boys. I think that is one of my favorite things about this series - all these relationships developed during the same time so we got to see how other characters saw the stories developing. Which also meant we didn't really have to say goodbye to the characters. A very good ending to this series. Can't wait for the two spin offs hinted at in the end.
