One Dark Window by Rachel Gillig
5.0
5/5 - my favorite read of the year so far
What an immersive dark fantasy world! I was immediately hooked by the unique magic system. The characters were so perfectly imperfect that it sucked me in even deeper. Nothing throws me out of a book quicker than when the characters are unrelatably perfect, and Rachel Gillig crafted her characters in a way that I felt drawn to learn more about them/their flaws/their past.
Overall, an exceptional and unique fantasy read.

I devoured this book, seriously. This book is multi-POV and I LOVED going along the journey with each character. The romances that build in this book are top-notch as well.
This duology is immaculate.

The Giver of Stars by Jojo Moyes
5.0
This book is out of my norm (I'm usually a fantasy reader), and I am so glad I gave it a read! Truly a chef's kiss book for me. It was so beautifully written and the characters were so strongly developed that I felt like I actually went on the journey with the Packhorse Librarians. Strong FMCs that are making an impact in their community, heck yes. The only thing that got to me was that the ending really left me wanting more. I felt like the wrap-ups in the last few pages were a bit of a disservice to the relationships that Moyes created between the characters and the reader. Despite that pain point, it was still a 5-star read for me!
