I loved this book so much I’ve immediately gone to pick up another book by the author! I was blessed to be given an E-ARC of this book as part of the Hear Our Voices book tour.
I love love loved the dual timeline, getting to know the history behind Tabby’s Meats & Sweets which had been handed down from generation to generation. I love learning about African American history and Tabitha’s side of the story was so rich with detail about African American life during the early twentieth century. Set in South Carolina between Georgetown and Charleston I loved immersing myself in the food and culture there. As a work of Christian fiction the author does an amazing job of creating characters who come to life through the joys and sorrows of life. Their struggles were so relatable and I actually caught myself crying and laughing at different times. To be honest, I believe I have found a new favourite author and I’m looking forward to reading the rest of her books.

Cress & Elias’ love story is an example of what it means to love someone for better or for worse. KC Mills did an amazing job showing how mental illness can be misunderstood and how people dealing with it can be loved and given a chance at living a beautiful life.
Overall this story had me emotional with how beautiful it was

This is my favourite book of this year. I’d love to see another book try to top this. Best book ever!!! Writing that hits your heart right at the centre, simply beautiful, emotional, hilarious at times and overall one of the greatest love stories I’ve ever read
