this seemed a little like it wanted to be a full novel rather than a novella—some plot points were mentioned and then passed by when a more full exploration would have benefited and for my taste there were a few too many stories trying to be told in 112 pages

this wasn't bad per se but it felt slightly lacking (i would've liked more history of the town myself) and was for sure marketed as something it isn't...even so, going to keep my eye on this author for sure

like...what do you even say about a novelization of a movie done after the movie's release? this is Wicker Man Plus and we're in howie's head the entire time. you can imagine for yourself how that would go, or just read the book for yourself
