Iron Flame by Rebecca Yarros

Read this book the entirety of the time I was in the Bahamas. For a book as big as this one, a LOT happened in the last 50 pages. Felt like it could have been paced a little more evenly, and I did in fact see the plot twist at the end coming, unfortunately. Must drink half a bottle of wine and discuss whether or not Xaden and Violet have a healthy relationship, i’m leaning towards no for their martyr asses. Still, I ride for these books and January can’t come soon enough!!!!!!

Wow. I haven’t had a book inspire me to get a pen and highlight sections in a while. It was complicated and uncomfortable and poetic and stabbed you in the chest a few times.

Bought it for the guinea pig on the cover. Very cute and sweet, but very mom-ish. The guinea pig was not even in it very much.

I liked it but there’s something about how this series was written that made it hard to read.

recommended to me by my mom :)
super compelling world, mostly compelling characters but seemed very incomplete. the magic had no explanation, it would just happen from out of nowhere which made it seem like kind of a cop out at times. like oh, you can just do that? okay but how and why and when did you get these powers that just kind of showed up conveniently to save you in that moment?
with all that being said it ended on a big cliffhanger and I am excited to read the next one
