Would it be bad if I got a Lana fangirl tshirt? Because I Stan, hard! This is a thrilling read. It like Lifetime meets WE. And talk about getting your attention with that gasp moment at the end. This was compelling, suspenseful, and an easy read I cannot believe how much the author crammed into 130 pages, it wild. But it’s a solid read and I very much enjoyed it.

I’m not sure what to rate this cause I hate that ending so bad I’m in tears. Like I’m so mad. I was expecting something different or at least a better explanation for the choices made. The spice in this book was incredible and Tanon is an excellent writer. The pacing was a little slower which is interesting since it’s much shorter than book one which is long but goes by so fast. BUT I just…I loved and hated this from start to finish.
Thoughts:
I’m so mad at Abe, Dill, and Harrison. Ney is the only really one!! Abe was full of 💩 from the beginning. Dillion owes me an explanation. And Harrison didn’t have no business over there if that wasn’t the game he liked to play! 😤 When I sit with book 1&2 I think the author tried to hint or prepare the reader but it wasn’t enough for me. It should have been little hints sprinkled in consistently IMO. I don’t know if I can handle the novella. Not while the betrayal is so fresh!

I love how Tanon always gives you a real life romance condensed into book time and speed. This was such an enjoyable read. I loved getting to see the highs and lows, the growth and the change. I think she did an amazing job handling the dynamics of polyamory and Dill’s personal growth. I just would have liked a little more care with the D/s dynamic. It was written like because she agreed to be in a triad that she also agreed to be a Sub and that clearly wasn’t the case. Outside of that and them never addressing on page/at the table her feelings on it I thoroughly enjoyed this read.

I enjoyed the story but I didn’t particularly like the writing style. Breaking the fourth wall consistently wasn’t engaging for me. And I feel like it would have been better if she lend more into the paranormal instead of the little bits that she kept throwing in. Has this been a latent witch tea maker and shifter or warlock I think it would have had a better flow, she could have kept all the real world problems and just made it an urban PNR. But I’m definitely going to be giving Rome’s book a try and I’ll be getting into book 2.

I am over joyed that a talented and seasoned Black author is testing the DARK romance waters and I think she did an excellent job. Kairus is truly a dark and twisted soul and unapologetically so, which is what I loved most. Mo’Nae didn’t try to sugar coat him or make him seem like anything other than a bad guy who found the person meant to love him. Azeira was a good character, while she annoyed me at times she was well developed and true to her identity. Which meant she never told her daddy off like she should have but I respect the consistency. I enjoyed the pacing, I enjoyed the writing, and loved the darkness. My only complaint if you can call it that is not ever knowing how here suspect daddy got that money 🧐. I will always be present for a Beauty and the Beast retelling and I highly enjoyed this one.

It was very hard not to compare this story to Sucker. It was a conscious effort. But Ashee delivered on giving you a gripping story, emotional complex characters with complicated dynamics. I loved the representation in this book, a look into what it’s like to survive a terminal illness (which I think is almost harder than the fight) and I enjoyed the lessons presented on how living, truly living a life is an action and a choice. My personal taste wanted a little more out of the romance. It had kind of a love at first sight energy but I never quite connected to it. But this was so well written with beautiful prose, a gripping plot, and a great tension between the main characters. It was a wonderful read that enjoyed even thought I didn’t absolutely love it.

Terreece Clarke strikes again. This was fun, festive, and heart warming. She writes the best MMCs and the coolest FMCS and this was no exception. I enjoyed every moment, I could have you a little more dessert but I won’t be greedy.
