I wish I would’ve gotten more intimate Eva & Jacks moments during the final installment tbh. Apollo’s point of view???? Babes we did not need that but that’s just me…. Overall I’m happy to wrap it up, but I was a lil’ disappointed. The last 10% was so fast paced and intense, it felt rushed. Overall I’d give this trilogy 4 stars as a whole, but this one was 3 stars for me.

This was even more heavy and dark than the first, especially within the first 50%. I was thoroughly immersed and on the edge of my seat watching the finale unfold. I’m glad I took a chance on seeing what this duet is all about for myself. Do I think this duet is a must read for everyone? Absolutely not. Check the trigger warnings and be wary, because this is a pitch black disturbing realm that will have you questioning many morals.
Horror suspense erotica, that’s about how I can sum this duet up. Zade and Addie are reminiscent of The Joker & Harley Quinn in this second installment especially. Psychotic, deranged, sick, and twisted. The cat and mouse duet will be sticking with me for a long time.

I connected with Ada’s mindset to a T. Her and Wes’s story was so pure and wholesome with that perfect dash of spice. I cannot wait to see what unfolds in future books. Lyla Sage is really onto something with these, I opened this early afternoon and finished by sunset. A perfect love story for a sunny spring day.

Let me just start with a trigger warning: if you can’t go for NCN, dubious consent, or talk about child trafficking and terrible terrible situations involving children. Do NOT pick this one up. It’s deranged, it’s twisted, it’s pitch black, not morally grey.
With that being said, from start to finish this had me completely enraptured. Did I question my morals, kinks, and sanity? Absolutely. Do I want a boyfriend like Zade Meadows in real life? Hell no. But did I get a big thrill out of reading this roller coaster of a novel? YES. I’m absolutely going to continue. I loved the vigilante robin hood type role Zade plays. Adeline & Daya’s friendship was another highlight for me. That fun house of mirrors scene????? HOLY HANNAH MONTANA. For pure entertainment and vibes, this bad rider is getting 5 stars from me.

You see this cover and you think, “cute & wholesome cowboy romance.” No. The tension between Emmy & Luke is HOTTTT. Also let me mention once this slow burn turns to a full on flame.. that spice is spicy 🥵😏😋
While this was also so cute and wholesome, as someone who’s not into cowboys, I’ve been converted. Grab me a pair of boots, because I’ll save a horse and ride a cowboy after this one. Giddy up girly pop. Catch me at the store RUNNING to get a copy of the next one tomorrow.

House of Bane and Blood is an all consuming gaslamp fantasy romance. Slow burn and tension you could cut with a knife, Milla & Nicolai’s story will leave you begging for more by the final page.

I honestly had no idea what to expect outside of knowing this was dark romance. This is my first time reading H.D. Carlton and it didn’t disappoint. Was it packed full of triggers? Yes. So be wary of those and check before indulging.
Grumpy sunshine to the point that bully tropes were at play. From start to finish I was fully immersed and damn… it got hot in there 🥵
I’d definitely recommend this to fellow dark romance lovers. Enzo and Sawyer’s story is one that’s going to stick with me, and something I see myself revisiting and reading again.
