after loving the first book in this series SO MUCH! i was so so excited to be accepted to read this arc, thank you so much to netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read this.
i honestly could read any adventure of din and ana together. they’re just the sweetest and i love all the silly stuff they get up to. but also the mystery in this was really intriguing. many times i was feeling a little bit confused, but nevertheless the less i was invested and also left shocked with the reveal. i love din and ana sm <3

Songs For Ghosts by Clara Kumagai
3.0
songs for ghosts is a heartwarming story of love, grief and an exploration of the past. i really enjoyed learning about japanese culture, especially the topic of what happens after you die which was new to me. i also really liked reading the diary passages and the difference between japanese and american culture back then, i often found myself sympathising with the diary owner a lot as her story was very emotional. also the discussion of being openly gay in japan vs america was also interesting. however, i found it hard to really connect and stay interested in the story when it was from adam’s pov. i felt him to be quite annoying in some instances especially with the way he’d interact with some of the characters. especially evan, the dismissal of his weird, pushy behaviour had me feeling pretty annoyed and i wish his actions were met with consequences rather then being brushed aside.

this was a beautiful and emotional story about love, loss and the inevitable change we go through as time goes on (but in demon form!) this was my first time trying out Alix E. Harrow and i’ll be sure to pick up more of their work after loving this short story. the emotion i was able to feel while reading this story was so pleasantly surprising, i’ll definitely be thinking about this for while. i loved it!
thank you netgalley for the chance to read this advanced readers copy.

In the Shadow of their Dying by Anna Smith Spark

“Kind of funny, really. You go to watch a play and as soon as you see the best-looking character, you know exactly who will survive”
"Kind of makes you think, doesn't it, when a real crisis hits... This whole, like, killing each other over who gets to collect our taxes thing suddenly seems, like, kind of a bit... pointless?"
this was a fun, quick and surprising read, interesting world we briefly get to witness. interesting bunch of characters too, with some funny dialogue.
