a little difficult to get into, part of that due to the fact they’re high schoolers. but once things picked up, more enjoyable

The Surrogate Mother by Freida McFadden

Every character was kind of terrible but that was kind of the best part. Quick read.
Monica was clearly bad news the entire book and was the best character for how completely unhinged she was. Sam was a dumbass that was so oblivious to literally everything. Abby pissed me off the most because she was also oblivious along with her “woe is me, my husband’s going to leave me” because she isn't able to have a baby and right at the beginning she rubbed me the wrong way when she was complaining that Jenelle backed out of the adoption like Abby was entitled to that baby too and how she only wanted to adopt a newborn when it’s constantly talked about how she has the resources to do better. stupid sort of kind of cliffhanger too

I’m convinced Jescie Hall laced this book with crack it was so f*cking good. I read it in two sittings over a 24 hr period. I don’t normally like a cheating trope but this hit different
and I totally saw the twist coming where Cam took the fall for Patrick and got paid off by the family when Cam’s ‘I lied to get here’ tattoo was mentioned on page 70

I didn’t expect to like this book as much as I did. I had reservations about coming back to Penelope Douglas after reading Credence awhile ago but this book pleasantly surprised me and I thoroughly enjoyed Jordan and Pike. it was a little slow to start but once it picked up I had a good time. is this a literary masterpiece? hell no. was it still enjoyable? absolutely
looses a star for
third act break up although it wasn’t nearly as terrible as it could of been or as bad some I’ve read recently

the epilogues (yes plural) and
third act break up followed by a somewhat unsatisfying apology scene to get them back together
bumped it down for me. the rest was pretty good, slightly repetitive spicy scenes

The only reason it’s not 5 stars is because it’s too short.
And despite not showing up until the very end I think I just fell in love with Zade all over again
