it's an amazing book! Full of Black culture and love and power.

It also shows Black women in STEM! People exploring who they are thanks to videogames (including trans and non-binary folks)! And just, people basking in a world where they can be themselves and not oppressed <3
There's also some very real discourse about what it means to be Black nowadays, the weight of history and prejudice.

En vrac, ce livre, c'est :
- des persos principaux arabes, musulmans, gay, saphiques ; quelques persos secondaires noirs, et une personne très secondaire avec un strabisme
- des femmes fortes dans un monde régi par les hommes
- beaucoup beaucoup de violence et de gore, père violent, alcoolisme
- une relation sexuelle entre deux adelphes
Sa plume est tour à tour poétique et âpre, un peu comme mes sentiments mitigés envers ce livre.

 Books & Bone is a bit different from any other fantasy books I ever read, it's about necromancers and librarians and friendly zombies and power-hungry friends and ace romance and deadly adventures and… it's so good?? The world V built is amazing, the character are compelling, I want to read more about all this! The story will definitely stay in a snug corner of my heart <3

On lit d'autant mieux ce livre qu'on connaît l'histoire de Clémence Bodoc, telle qu'elle la raconte dans le premier épisode du podcast Travail (en cours) par exemple. Son burn-out dans une grande entreprise, puis son arrivée chez Madmoizelle.com et son second burn-out là-bas, dans des conditions bien différentes. On sent les conseils et l'espoir que l'autrice veut faire passer pour qu'on ne répète pas ses erreurs.

The ending is a bit less enthralling than the rest of the story, it's abit of a bummer; but it's still a very nice read, still a lot of action and badassery, flash-backs and flash-forwards that add to the suspense.
