The concept was amazing but the execution was, sadly, pretty disappointing. There were plenty of genuinely good moments throughout, but there was an overall lack of development, especially with the characters. The protagonist wasn't exactly likeable, especially for the first half of the book, and most of the side characters lacked enough personality for me to get attached to them. Also, there was way too many scenes where the dialogue was just plain awkward. It really felt like it needed to go through another stage of editing.

[DNF] Stopped reading at page 108. I just wasn't interested in anything that was going on. The typos were also becoming an issue, this book really feels like it's a draft still.

A quick and mostly fun read, but the characters are definitely lacking in the depth department.

So close to four stars, the writing was just a little annoying in places (mostly at the beginning, it took some getting used to).

Bit of a slow start that made it hard to get into at first, but once it got going it was brilliant. A wonderfully original concept and a sort of bittersweet hopeful tone that yes, alright, maybe did make me tear up a bit at the end.

[DNF] at page 178. My reading motivation is really low right now but this book also just wasn't doing anything for me. I've never been to an American school so maybe this is just me being dumb but it felt very over the top and movie-cliche-ish? Especially with the cheer team and all of that. I don't know. I was also really confused with all the characters, there were just a lot of names and I lost track of who was who. The romance had such potential, so I'm sad I lost too much interest in the general book to continue. I might come back to this book another time, but I found myself forcing myself to read it for the sake of it rather than actually enjoying it, so. I don't know. Maybe I could've sticked it out but I'm trying to make a habit of DNF'ing as soon as I lose interest rather than dragging myself through books.

[DNF] at page 58. Such a cool concept but the writing style put me off. Just a bit bland, I guess. I wasn't feeling it.
