Audiobook was over so quick I don’t have a lot of feelings about this one. Enjoyable quick palette cleanser.

Every time I read one of May’s books I enjoy her writing even more. This one is a little different from her other books that I’ve read as there are ‘monster’ shapeshifters who are mostly all lovable. There was one I didn’t care for, but he was written that way so to not like him shows how good the writing is.

There are nine main characters and nine points of view so there is a lot to follow. Most of the MMCs had very distinct voices and personalities but I kept getting two mixed up repeatedly. I could still easily follow the plot.

There’s lots of fun steamy bits and the book features a poly relational including MM scenes.

A Bloom in Winter by J.R. Ward

I had high hopes for this book and it was definitely as emotional as I expected considering one of the MMC suffered unimaginable trauma. Most of the book was spent dealing with that as he worked through what happened to him. As much as I like the realism of a character trying to heal as compared to Ward just making the pain disappear, it made for a sad, emotional and difficult book to get through. There was a HEA but it wasn’t terribly happy.  Too complex to explain without spoilers. I felt like there wasn’t a lot of romance in a romance book.

Book started out strong but got so boring by the 3/4 mark. I normally enjoy King’s long-winded-ness but this was never ending repetitious garbage. And I couldn’t stand the FMC. Husband is an abusive alcoholic and she chooses to stay with him.

This book was so slow and boring, with a twist that wasn’t a surprise at the end. I only finished because it’s a book club book.
