I don’t know what it is about this series but I eat these books up like they’re my last meal. That being said, this was super insta-lusty (+ tw:
has some very vividly detailed sexual assault scenes (not from the love interest)
which felt a little but far fetched to me but also, this is a mafia romance so what was I expecting?

This book was marketed as an enemies to lovers team up to solve a scavenger hunt but that was actually only a tiny part of the book, so while I should have known better, I was still really disappointed. I feel like we got told the characters' motivations and their thoughts & feelings but we never really got to delve deeper into them so unfortunately this just wasn't at all what I was expecting or hoping from Talia Hibbert. It just felt so much less charming? Like the usual Talia Hibbert spark was just missing? This one just kind of missed the ball, but luckily TH has a backlist full of fantastic romances (like Act Your Age, Eve Brown) which I will happily recommend instead!

read for the Hoemance Book Club 💕

There were some serious issues that I had with this book as a hoh reader (I'm looking at your judgemental ass Willa) but overall I did really enjoy the Bergman family so I'll definitely continue this series!

I will never get over Willa judging this poor man for not immediately telling her about his hearing aids and for expecting him to divulge his entire medical/hearing history to her, especially when he knows next to nothing of substance about her! I also hated how when he finally realised what was pissing her off and figured out that she knew about his hearing aids, he blamed himself and totally took that on himself instead of questioning why it was any of her business in the first place. It is never anyone's business but you're own what you choose to disclose about your disability. Also, fuck the lecturer guy for putting him in that situation in the first place.

Not my favourite thing I've read this year by any stretch of the imagination, but I did manage to breeze through it in just a few hours so maybe I'm in a mafia romance mood? (recs appreciated!)

I've finally figured out how to enjoy Neil Gaiman's books! They have to be cowritten by Terry Pratchett! 🤯
