nice quick read to get out of a slump but def lost a few points with all the time skips at the end. i felt like i got every little detail about their feelings and relationship except when it mattered the most and it felt like the author got bored of the story.

i think a lot of the negative reviews have to do with marketing. this is not a thriller. its more a character study of lex and the lasting effects of her trauma. while i understand people not liking the disjointed writing style and constantly changing timelines seemingly at random, i felt like it was a reflection of lex’s brain processes and how she views the world and how aspects of her trauma leak into every aspect of her life.

i think the daniel/noah mix up was intended to be confusing but didnt really serve a purpose in the book? like i kind of felt like cutting noah out of the book and focusing more on daniel wouldnt have changed the plot and would have been more interesting for the reader.

Murder Your Employer: The McMasters Guide to Homicide by Rupert Holmes

Did not finish book. Stopped at 62%.
may come back to this at another time as i was in a big slump when i first picked it up. i really like the concept and was enjoying the book until cliff left the school. i was much more interested in mcmasters itself than in cliffs personal vendetta and it kind of lost me at that point.

i simply do not care! i was hesitant to pick up this book bc i didnt love the first one, but the ending intrigued me. the beginning of this book throws you into the deep end of a completely new plotline and skips a bunch of the events that i wanted to find out about in this book.
kind of a spoiler i guess but randomly killing off zan felt like the author needed him gone for her new plot idea and didnt know what else to do. idk if he comes back again but getting rid of the most compelling characters for no reason was stupid
