I realised I never reviewed this the first time I read it.
I’ve now read it for the second time and I have to say, it was as incredible and epic as my first read.
The story is a bit slower, and some events that took place were not as exciting as the first 2 books BUT, I loved it regardless. I think the slow politics and the sheer amount of sitting around and strategising is necessary, albeit yes, it can sometimes be a bit of a slog.
I LOVED reading Dalinar’s backstory. The story of the Blackthorn and how he came to be known as ruthless and dangerous. I loved that tragic tale of loss and the determination to become a better person than he once was. I just love this old man. Character development: 10/10. Chefs kiss.
I love every character in this bloody book. But ofc, Adolin is my sweet cinnamon roll and he can do no wrong. This man has me wrapped around his adorable little finger

Wonderfully written characters. Amazing world building. Interesting fantasy creatures. End-of-the-world type crisis. Impending doom. Wonderful fight sequences. Science?? A hint of romance (prob just me shipping for no damn reason). What more can I ask for?
This was honestly an incredible first instalment to the trilogy and I can see why it’s so well loved. I do believe it’s not as popular as it should be. Williams is an incredible storyteller and I loved every second reading this book. Never a dull moment.
If you’re looking to read a very well rounded book with 3 dimensional characters and a very interesting world, I highly highly recommend this!

HOLY SMOKES THIS BOOK WAS EVERYTHING
I was a little worried going into this thinking that the author may get a case of “second book syndrome” as the first half of the book was very slow.
That is why this is a 4.8/5 and not a full on 5. However, it does not take away anything. This book was **chefs kiss**
The slow build up set the stage for an absolutely incredible last half. Filled with so much tension. There is betrayal, love, war, inner-conflict, end-of-the-world sense of impending doom and even MORE fantastical creatures. This book was beyond magical.
I thought the first book had its fair share fascinating creatures but now, I am even more impressed by Williams’ imagination and world building. So much lore, so much sorrow and heartbreak in one book. She just keeps hitting me right in the feels.
Ofc my favourite trio are also back together also, so that makes my black little heart very happy.
This book is someways much much more and better than the first. I’m really looking forward to the series finale ❤️

An absolutely beautiful and bittersweet ending to this trilogy. If you love complex characters, a truly wonderful world, a strong plot with a hint of romance then you will really love this series.

Another storming masterpiece by Brando Sando.
Bravo.
I have no words. I’m baffled. I’m in awe. I just love this bloody series so damn much.
What surprised me the most is how much I LOVED Navani in this book. She’s really starting to shine. I liked her before but she wasn’t as developed as she is in ROW. I loved seeing her become the scholar is was always meant to be, and I genuinely loved learning about fabrials and studying spren alongside her. It truly shows the thought and care taken into world building. Yes these learning sessions are long, but they’re never boring. They’re integral to the plot and I find them absolutely fascinating.
I say this every goddamn book but Brando is a world class specialist in characterisation. Every POV character in every book is so interesting and with every interlude, the cosmere expands. I especially love Wit and Chiri-Chiri. Who doesn’t?
There’s so much I love about this book.
The heartbreak some characters go through to the epic battles and the slow politics… everything is seamless. Perfection.
I cannot wait for the next book and I have severe withdrawals symptoms already, so I will most likely start another cosmere novel while I wait.
Brando Sando, you goddamn genius.

I read this book SO fast!
Epic fantasy version of Red Rising?
High stakes? Rising up the ranks and spying on the enemy? Morally grey characters? In depth characterisation? Beautiful prose? VERY unique class system and magic (ish) system???????
Holy smokes, this book has it all. And does it all SO magnificently.
I’m honestly, genuinely impressed at how incredible this book was. I’ve had it in my TBR for so long and never read the synopsis until last week and bought it right away.
Every character is so well written, so complex and real. There’s so much mystery in this book that I am SO eager to read the next instalment.
I’m so so so so impressed.
I bloody LOVED this book.
