I found this to have a good command over pacing and ticking clock elements, which made it a compelling thriller. I loved the mirroring of certain Silence of the Lambs moments, but the characters came into their own very quickly, as did the worldbuilding and the central conflict around both the murders and the larger politics. The last 100 pages escalate in stakes but progress at a more rushed pace than the start and the middle. The ending is also a little open-ended (a similar nod to Lambs), but unlike Lambs that feels fairly self-contained, here a thread is unraveled hinting at a potential direct sequel. Given the expansive scope of the world, I can imagine more stories will be set in it. Looking forward to them!
