The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon
5.0
What can I say but wow.
I just finished this book moments ago and I already miss it. This was truly everything I wish game of thrones had been.
The world building is vast and interesting, the magic system is unique, the women aren't snivelling damsels in distress but strong, capable warriors in their own right.
I admit I struggled to get into it at first but I'm so very glad I stuck with it. While I won't lie, the world building can be a little overwhelming, once you get into it, it's absolutely worth the (daunting) read.
I hope Samantha one day writes more about this world because I would love to see more of it.

Okay where to begin.
First of, it was an enjoyable read. The tensions ran high, the characters got a little more developed and Cardan definitely grew on me as a person. The world building is also still very enjoyable and interesting.
That aside, the plot was a bit of a letdown. Everything built up to this possible High stakes war only for Cardan to ✨ magically magic ✨ the threats away after all of Jude's back and forth going, scheming and suffering.
Reading the ending definitely frustrated me a fair bit.
I am curious to see how the final book will go and what I can expect from it

This one has been my favorite out of all three books. It has tension, intrigue and a very satisfying ending.
I'm sad it's over but I'm sure rereads will happen in the future!

Once again a book I decided to check out because of the hype around it.
I went in with relatively high hopes and I can't say I was disappointed. The setting is interesting and it's cool to see a fantasy setting drawing inspiration from Russia rather than Arthurian England.
I admittedly also tore through it rapidly. Leigh's writing style is really enjoyable and I'm already looking forwards to reading the next two books in this series!

After seeing a lot of reccomendations and people raving about this book, I finally sat down to read it.
I can happily say I wasn't dissapointed and I had a hard time tearing myself away from it.
The writing is compelling and heartwrenching at points and the last 50 or so pages had me on the edge of my seat, unable to put it down.
I highly recommend it in turn to anyone. It's definitely quickly become a favorite
