Lion of Macedon by David Gemmell
5.0
Except The Lord of the Rings, I've never read many fantasy books (probably none).
But Lion of Macedon was utterly amazing. A real page-turner, I was obsessed with it and I could not stop reading and thinking about it.
Like I said when I first read Percy Jackson, I'm an easy reader when it comes to Antic Greek and Mythology because I've always loved it. But David Gemmell takes us in a universe that transcend that two aspects. He's an amazing writer and succeeds to give life to his book like you're actually seeing a movie when you're reading it.
I was not a big fan of the main character Parmenion because I could not rely on what he feels, tries to do, but I LOVE the second characters. Everyone who grativates around him (bad or good people) are interesting and unique in their own way.
Time is really important in a book and I love that you're not waiting one week to have something to happen. A couple of years is passing through this book and it's quite enjoyable to follow this quick evolution particularly in a time of war. Because in the end you're as impatient as Parmenion is to see Sparta falls.
(I know I say this everytime but ...)
I CAN'T WAIT TO READ THE NEXT BOOK!
