The Beauty of Darkness by Mary E. Pearson

5.0

4.5 stars. I'm really going to think back on this series fondly. I only rated the first book 3 stars, fully admitting I had been distracted while listening to the audio version and not getting into it fully. I think coming into books 2 and 3 already knowing the characters, setting and situations, I was able to immerse myself more in the story (while still listening to audio ... same narrators through the series, thank goodness! I would NOT have dealt well with a switch in voices). Even though the books are not short I felt like I sped through them, even this last one (estimated 18+ hours of listening time? Really?) I was always anxious to get back to book when I had to put it down.

Slight spoiler ... I know some people don't care for a complete "happily ever after" wrap up, but I admit, I do. :)
