Marley and Me by John Grogan

emotional funny lighthearted reflective sad medium-paced

3.25

I know how it ends, and I still cried. Marley was a lovable menace. He reminded me of our current dog and her late father, who was as energetic as Marley.

I also nearly cried at their first pregnancy attempt. I'm single and have never been in a relationship (not by choice) yet, but I still felt the pain.

Some parts also felt kind of slow, as I am very interested only in Marley's misadventures. Overall, it was a good read. My copy has been sitting on my shelf for about 10 years now, and I just decided to read and finish it today.

~×~

I could almost taste the finiteness of life and thus its preciousness. We take it for granted, but it is fragile, precarious, uncertain, able to cease at any instant without notice. I was reminded of what should be obvious but too often is not,
that each day, each hour and minute, is worth cherishing.
