Wow. With that opening line, I was so excited for this story. It. Did. Not. Disappoint. I absolutely LOVED spending time with Cassia and Lio. This is a fantasy with HEAVY world building. I mean heavy! The first 50% of the book went a bit slower for me, and the last 50% went way too fast!

Everything about this book is incredibly detailed and the world is complex. It was a masterpiece. This is Vampires like I've never seen them before! The slow-burn, forbidden love gripped my heart. Who wouldn't swoon for Lio?! I was bawling my eyes out towards the end of the book, my heart was breaking for Cassia and Lio.
The themes in this book are powerful, mixed with the suspense, and political intrigue make a facinating and gripping story. I simply can't wait for the second book, this is a world I want to revisit time and time again.
