Dragon's Oath by Kristin Cast, P.C. Cast
4.0
I was not a fan of the House of Night series; the main characters being the reason. While the concept of the vampires is unique, interesting, and one that I have never read before, the characters of the main series were annoying. Dragon and Anastasia's characters were much more enjoyable to read or, in the case of audio format, listen to.
Dragon and Anastasia's backstory takes place in the 1800's and both characters weren't whiny and annoying (*cough* Zoey *cough*). I wish it were possible to read this story as a stand alone and that it was longer. Unfortunately, you have to know the House of Night series to properly follow this along, as it does not fill in any gaps and goes off of the basis that you have the knowledge of the series.
