Short Stories by Jesus: The Enigmatic Parables of a Controversial Rabbi by Amy-Jill Levine

5.0

As a preacher, I am reading the same-ish stories again and again and trying to use my limited resources to make them new again. As the fiancée of a Jewish man (albeit fairly secular), I have spent the last couple of years thinking more about Jesus' Judaism than ever before. Reading AJL's work showed me just how easily my theological education fell into the trap of interpreting Jesus' words in a way his Jewish audience would never, and how it is faithful to my Christianity to do better.

Do you preach to Christians? Are you Jewish and/but intrigued by this "controversial rabbi" and his storytelling? AJL has some good news for you.

Oh, and her wit is *unmatched* in any theological writing I've ever encountered.
