It's a regret that this series has concluded.
I have enjoyed every bit of the 5 volumes; the pacing was great, the translation superb and smooth, the plot makes sense and easy to follow, the main characters lovable, and the side characters deserve respect as well (although some deserve death).
Special highlight is that I really enjoyed Meng Xi Shi's writings of female characters, although this is a danmei, with male love interests, but the side female characters are well written, serves an important purpose to the plot, and are bad asses. They are not there to be decorative or just to simply fill out the roles.
As for our main couple;
Yan Wushi went from cold hearted villain, to a simp for Shen Qiao, from someone who only does things for the the benefits of himself or just to toy with other people and stir disturbances, to someone who finally felt that he cared for another person so much to the point he became shameless but would give the world for that said person.
(Yan Wushi) "He hadn't expected that Shen Qiao's smile would reawaken everything. He was unwilling to admit that he, who'd looked down upon everyone in the world, would one day find that a name had wormed its way into his heart".
and Shen Qiao went from naive and gullible to the workings of the outside world, to someone who is more wary, yet still has the biggest heart of gold, and of course from tolerating the antics of Sect Leader Yan, to actually loving him so deeply as the person he is.
(Shen Qiao) "With a shock, he suddenly realized just how heavy the weigh of this man already was inside his heart. It was heavier than a thousand tons; so heavy that he was completely unable to withstand is."
Yan Wushi and Shen Qiao balance out each other, like yin and yang, dark and light, night and day.
My only frustration is that we live on crumbs for YanShen in the series, especially the first two volumes, there's almost none at all. Only the 5th volume, the YanShen nation are well fed, but it won't stop me from giving this 5 stars.
