Funny Story by Emily Henry

5.0

Another absolute banger by Ms Henry. I think she had an official choke hold on me as a reader. I say this somewhat reluctantly as her first two book were mid by comparison in my personal opinion. But her last 3 have all just grasped my heart and held on tight.

This one just might be my #1 fave of all. It’s a toss up between this and Book Lovers. But I related so much to Daphne as a character. Not so much her lived experience, but more so her nature. Her inner thoughts felt like they could have been mine. I understood every insecurity she had. They made 100% perfect sense to me.

And I loved Miles too. I was nervous by his initial description of being a stoner (not my thing) but it all worked out. He also reminded me a lot of my husband. Another reason I related to Daphne’s insecurities. When you aren’t a charismatic person, charismatic people can bring out your insecurities. Especially when you don’t understand why a charismatic person would love you.

Anyway. I’m getting too personal. But I loved this story. And I also now would love to vacay in Michigan. Is waning bay even real?
