I picked this one up knowing I’d enjoy it because Doerr is a master storyteller. Past, present, and future all woven together by an ancient text. The myth of Aethon passes from Constantinople to a digital library in the future. Doerr reminds us through his beautiful writing that stories aren’t just a fun way to pass the time, they are vitally important to the well-being of our souls and communities. Cloud Cuckoo Land was a stunning piece of literature that I have thought about at least once a day since I finished reading it.
